Township Awarded OPWC Grant for 2020

In October 2019, the trustees submitted an application to OPWC (Ohio Public Works Commission) for a grant to widen and resurface Township Road 60 one mile beginning at County Road 27 then heading north commencing at Township Road 135. The application was submitted as Township Road 60 Improvements, Phase 2. The total engineer's estimate for this project is $180.402.20. The township received the award letter from the OPWC on July 1st approving the grant. Because of the late award notice,OPWC gave permission for the bids to be advertised and opened at a special meeting on June 30, 2020. The township received four bids. The trustees unanimously accepted the bid from Small's Asphalt Paving,Inc. of Gambier, Ohio. They came in with the lowest bid at $158,421.65. The township will be responsible to cover 26% of the total cost of the project. The other bids received were Shelly & Sands, Inc. $193,818.20; Mid-Ohio Asphalt $180,248.70; and Kokosing Construction $169.666.45.
